Research and Investigation into Anomalous Light Phenomena
on and over Lake Ontario, Ontario, Canada

17th August 2001

South Shore, Lake Ontario

After a rather hot night I went down to the beach at the end of my garden before dawn. I had everything set up around 04.00h as I wanted to observe prior to when any normal aircraft activity would be evident in the area of Pearson International Airport. Most late night flights have arrived by 01.30h and nothing much is logged in the morning until 06.00 am. Thus, I estimated my window of observation to be approximately 5 hours at most.

Little did I realise that on 11th September 2001 and for several days afterwards, no flights of normal aircraft would occur in this airspace. However, at the time of the World Trade Center event I was in England and not at home so was not able to make any recordings over the lake.

The time of this event was approximately 05.15h. These four photographs were taken with the Pentax MZ-7 SLR, 300 mm lens, using Fujicolor 800 film.
