South Shore, Lake Ontario
The camera was set up on the shore in Niagara-on-the-Lake. These images were taken with the Pentax SLR camera attached to the Celestron 8" reflector. The film used was Fujicolor 1600.
This event took place some distance to the east of the Toronto skyline. The red flashing light that can be seen would appear to be a communications tower, or tall chimney.
This first frame shows what appears to be a double orb descending towards the horizon. The reflection or beam beneath the orb can be seen somewhat above the real horizon, and this effect is probably due to the moisture-laden air above the water.
The third frame shows the orb still bright, but almost ready to disappear. It still appears to be floating above the real horizon, due to the moisture in the air.
I took some other frames taken with the Pentax camera attached to the Celestron 8" reflector. Additionally the Rainbow Optics Spectroscope grating cell was used in conjunction with the camera and telescope.
