The Berwyn Mountains UFO Incident - 23rd January 1974

An ongoing investigation into a hoax built up around a real UFO event

APPENDIX THREE

THE ALLEGED UFO FRAGMENTS

The metal fragment sent to Mrs. Margaret Fry by Terry Hooper

An extract from the Spring 2007 issue of Flying Saucer Review in which Russ Kellett writes about his fragment from the crashed UFO and Harrier jet at Capel Curig.
Quote: "I received a witness statement from the group, a map of the area and two metal objects from Capel Curig where the incident took place. This was a second stage turbine blade from a Pegasus engine used in a Sea Harrier jet. The second piece of metal (currently being analysed) resembles a melted piece of non-ferrous sliver[sic] metal."

"Sea Harrier" is mentioned above as the source of the second stage turbine blade acquired by Kellett. However, the Sea Harrier was introduced in 1978 and did not enter service with the Royal Navy until 1980, six years after the Berwyn Mountains incident.
